How Coachella Party® handles your photos and personal information, on this website and in the Coachella Party mobile app.
Who We Are
Coachella Party® is owned and operated by Air4Media LLC, 74485 Goleta Ave, Palm Desert, CA 92260. This policy covers coachellaparty.com and the Coachella Party mobile app (our AI photobooth) on both iPhone and Android, together "the service".
What We Collect
- Photos you take: selfies you capture in the app or at one of our booths, and the AI photos we create from them.
- Phone number: optional, and only if you choose to type it in. See "Your Phone Number" below for exactly what happens to it.
- Email address: only if you provide it to receive photos or to contact us.
- Booking details: name and event information when you book our services.
- Basic technical data: device type, operating system and app version, plus the internet address your device is connecting from, which is recorded each time we create a picture for you. We use it to run the service, to keep the free tier from being abused, and to fix problems.
- An anonymous app identifier: the first time you open the app it makes up a random identifier for itself. It is not your name, your email or your phone number, and it is never shared with advertisers. It is simply how the app remembers which photos and which purchases are yours without making you create an account.
- Purchase records: if you buy Party Pass or a photo pack, the app store tells us that the purchase happened and which item it was, so we can unlock what you paid for. We never see your card details.
Your Face & AI Photos
Your photo is used for one purpose: creating the stylized AI photo you asked for. We do not use your photos to identify you, we do not build facial recognition databases, we do not use them to train AI models of our own, and we never sell your photos or your personal data.
Here is exactly what happens. The photo you take, or the one you choose, is sent to our servers. From there it is passed to our AI rendering provider, Google, which creates the styled picture and returns it to us. Google processes your photo on our instruction, for that one request, and not for its own purposes. We then keep both your original photo and the finished picture in our cloud storage so that your gallery and your share links keep working.
How long we keep them: until you ask us to delete them. Photos are not deleted automatically and there is no set expiry date, because the whole point of a share link is that it still opens next month. If you would rather yours were gone, ask us and we will remove them.
About share links. Your photos live at long, random web addresses that are not listed anywhere and cannot be guessed or searched for. That is what lets you send a photo to a friend who does not have the app. It also means anyone you give the link to can open it, so treat a share link like the photo itself.
Payments
Purchases in the Coachella Party app, meaning the Party Pass subscription and photo packs, are handled by the app store you installed the app from. On Android that is Google Play Billing, through your Google account. On iPhone it is Apple, through your App Store account. We never see or store your card details. The store tells us only that a purchase completed and which item it was, so we can unlock it for you.
Party Pass renews until you cancel, and there is no free trial. You cancel it in the store you bought it from: on Android, in the Google Play Store under Subscriptions; on iPhone, in your App Store account settings. Cancelling stops future charges, and Party Pass keeps working to the end of the period you have already paid for. Photo packs are one-time purchases and do not expire.
Event bookings are invoiced separately through our payment processor.
Your Phone Number
Near the end of the photo flow the app offers to take your phone number. Giving it is optional and you can skip that step. If you do enter it, your number is recorded on our servers, and that is all that happens with it: the app does not currently send you a text message. You never need to give a number to get your picture, because your finished photo is always waiting for you in the app's own gallery and at your share link.
At our staffed event booths, a member of our team may use a number you gave us to follow up with you about your photos or your event. If we ever do start sending photo links by text, standard message and data rates would apply and we would say so here first.
We do not sell or share your number, and we do not add you to marketing lists without your consent. As with photos, we keep it until you ask us to delete it, and you can ask at any time.
Storage, Retention & Deletion
Photos are stored securely in cloud storage so your gallery and share links keep working. See "Your Face & AI Photos" above for how long we keep them and how share links behave.
You can request deletion of your photos and personal information at any time through our contact page or by email to smile@coachellaparty.com. Tell us roughly when and where you used the app or the booth so we can find your photos. We honor deletion requests within 30 days and we never charge for it.
The app has no account to delete, because it never asked you to create one. Uninstalling the app does not delete your photos from our servers. It removes the copies saved on your device and stops the app from making anything new, but photos we already hold, any share links to them, and a phone number you entered all stay until you ask us to remove them. To have those removed, send us a deletion request as above.
If you have a Party Pass subscription, cancel it in the store you bought it from, either before or after you ask for deletion. Deleting your photos does not cancel a subscription, and cancelling a subscription does not delete your photos.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the service, and only so they can do their job for us:
- AI rendering - Google. Receives your photo and a description of the look you picked, and creates the picture.
- Cloud storage. Holds your original photo and your finished pictures.
- App stores - Google Play and Apple. Confirm to us that a purchase happened, so we can unlock what you paid for.
- Text message delivery. Used by our staffed event booths where texting is offered.
They process your data solely on our behalf and under our instructions. We do not sell personal information to anyone, and we do not share anything with advertisers.
There is no advertising in the Coachella Party app. No ads are shown, there is no advertising software inside the app, we do not use the Android advertising identifier, and nothing about you is used for advertising or for tracking you across other apps and websites.
Permissions the App Asks For
- Camera. Used only when you tap to take a selfie, and only to take that picture. The app never uses the camera in the background, and it does not record video or sound.
- Choosing a photo you already have. If you pick an existing picture instead of taking a new one, Android's own photo picker hands us just the one picture you chose. The app is not given permission to your photo library and cannot see the rest of your gallery.
- Saving a finished picture to your device. When you save one of your pictures, it goes into your gallery. On current versions of Android this needs no permission at all; only on Android 9 and older is the storage permission required.
- Android backup. Android's built-in backup service keeps a small amount of app data for you, namely that anonymous app identifier, so that if you change phone or reinstall, the Party Pass or photo packs you paid for come back with you. That backup is held by Google as part of Android. No photos are included in it.
- Google Play services. The same anonymous identifier is passed to Google Play with a purchase, purely so the purchase can be matched to the right app and unlocked.
The app does not ask for your location, your contacts, your calendar, your microphone or your files, and it cannot read them.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. California residents also have the rights provided by the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell personal information).
Android users can also reach our deletion request from the app's Google Play listing, under Data safety, and by email or our contact page as described above. Either route reaches the same people.
The Coachella Party app is intended for adults, is listed for ages 18 and over, and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not knowingly create AI pictures of a child. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete what we hold.
